Hello! :)

Hello and welcome to my blog! My blog has everything and anything you'd like to know on the climate of Hot Deserts and Boreal(taiga) forests. If you'd like to view other pages on my site, the links are on the top of the page! Also, if you'd like to comment or improve this site by adding your own bit of information, feel welcome to do so! I hope you have a good time reading my blog! Enjoy xx :D

Climate Types! ;D

There are lots of different climate types in the world with various patterns of both temperature and precipitation. However the world's climate can be grouped mainly into hot, temperate and cold. In this site I am going to look at two climates which are:
Hot deserts (hot climate) & Boreal (cold climate)

Hot Deserts!

Although most people would think that deserts are mainly dry and hot, there are, in fact, cold deserts as well. The largest hot desert in the world, northern Africa's Sahara, can reach temperatures of 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius) during the day. But some deserts are always cold, like the Gobi desert in Asia and the desert on the continent of Antarctica. Others can also be mountainous. Only about 10 percent of deserts are covered by sand dunes.Very dry deserts get less than half an inch (one centimeter) of precipitation (rain) each year, and that's also only from condensed fog and not rain.

Boreal climates!
Boreal forest Climate ( Dfc) can also be called taiga biome. This is a continental climate with long, very cold winters, and short, cool summers. This climate is in the polar air mass region. Very cold air masses from the arctic often move in. The temperature range is larger in this Boreal climate than any other climate type. There is a lot of rain/ precipitation during the summer months, although the annual precipitation is still small.

A lot of the boreal forest climate is thought to be quite humid. Although, big areas in western Canada and Siberia get very little precipitation and therefore have a subhumid or semiarid climate type.
